Instatours is a new way to see a city with a social media focus. The company provides tours in eight cities across the UK and Ireland helping tourists to find the most “Instagrammable" areas of the city for their feed. Super popular with hen parties, corporate team building activity and school tours, Instatours finds a way to blend history, technology and tourism in a fun package that has become a hit on Tripadvisor, driving impressive growth since it launched in 2018. We caught up with Conor Mulloy, Insta Tours Founder about his experience with Outmin and the challenges his business has faced in tracking finances and managing accounting generally.

Challenge

Conor initially went down the route of using a local accountant, which is the default process for many small business owners trying to get on top of their finances. “Traditional accountants were all over the place. They would turn up late to our meetings and we were constantly chasing them with emails back and forth.”

“I didn’t really want to understand the intricacies of finance, I just needed the numbers at the end of the month to understand how my business was performing, and what opportunities lie ahead. I just wanted someone to process it all, take charge and do it for me.”

Conor was prompted to reconsider how he was working with accountants when he read about how AI is disrupting the industry. “I thought this was a great thing when I read it. It was ripe for disruption and I knew there had to be a better way than the current way I was doing it.”

Conor then heard about Outmin on a startup community forum in Dublin and has been a customer ever since.

Solution

We asked Conor what drove the decision to go with Outmin. “Super competitive pricing and the automation were the wins for me.”

Outmin currently manages all of Insta Tours finances from invoices to payroll.

“The summary emails are great. It really simplifies everything down for me. Also forwarding receipts to an email address and then they are just taken care of is incredibly helpful.

Speaking about the team behind the technology at Outmin, he stated that there is “…clear communication of what’s needed from the team and I in terms of documents. They also frame everything related to Insta Tours’s finance in a really easily understood language”.

Apart from simplifying his accounting and giving him an understanding of where he’s at finances wise, Conor clearly defined the impact it’s made on his business.
